Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children Review: Top 5 Things Tim Burton Depicted in the Movie

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children was quite spectacular! It showed the fantasy-adventure that Jake (Asa Butterfield) journeyed together with Miss Peregrine’s peculiar children. And here are the top 5 things that Director Tim Burton depicted in the movie adaption based on the 2011 best-selling novel by Ransom Riggs.

  1. Trauma and Grief

Jake lost his beloved grandfather to a hollow. He thought that he was merely seeing things that weren’t there when he got to his grandfather before he died. And to help him get through the trauma and grief, he talked to a psychiatrist.

  1. Loneliness

With trauma and grief, Jake also carried the loneliness he felt. He had no friends. And he felt this more when his grandfather died. Afterward, he set up on a journey to the island that his grandfather told him about when he was still little. He wanted to find out for himself that his grandfather’s story was somehow a real one.

  1. Aging

It turned out that Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children was a time loop. There, they were safe from Mr. Barron (Samuel L. Jackson), a shapeshifter, and the hollows that were after the peculiar children. Here, Jake learned that all of the peculiar children and Miss Peregrine (Eva Green) never aged a day. And while Jake was falling for Emma (Ella Purnell), he could never be with her in his own time because she would die. Therefore, there was only one solution to it in the end.

  1. Teamwork

One particular peculiar kid did not like Jake – that was Enoch (Finlay MacMillan). It turned out that he was also envious with Abe, Jake’s grandfather, who could see the hollows. But in the end, Jake was able to make him cooperate so that they would all survive from the ones who were after them.

  1. Love and Family

In Jake’s pursuit to find out if what his grandfather told him about was real, his family supported him. Thus, he was able to go to the island with his father in tow. And sure enough, love is still a powerful emotion – be it for family or otherwise. Jake fell for Emma and so he did everything he could to be with her.
