The Legend of the Blue Sea episode 17 started where it left off in episode 16. It was where Shim Chung (Jun Ji Hyun) is erasing Ma Dae Young’s (Sung Dong-Il).
However, Shim Chung was not able to erase all his memories as she felt the pain in her chest. He ran away then. When somebody spotted him and called the police, he ran to hide away.
Meanwhile, Heo Joon Jae (Lee Min Ho) was still arguing with his father. The latter did not want to come with him. On the other hand, the meeting between the wives of socialites met, where Heo Joon Jae’s mother attended. There, her former employer revealed that she was Chairman Heo’s ex-wife, putting the second wife in awkward position. However, Kang Seo Hee retorted that Heo Joon Jae won’t have any place to go back to.
Later, Ma Dae Young received a call from Kang Seo Hee/Kang Ji Hyun. He remembered her when they were younger, though.
When Heo Chi Hyeon went back to the house, he went to check Heo Joon Jae’s father. The latter, however, did not say that his son visited him there a little while ago. And yet, his stepson already knew this fact.
Back in Heo Joon Jae’s house, he and his team together with the police detectives discussed what happened when he broke into his father’s house. He gave to the detectives the needle and pills that he took from his stepmother’s room. Also, he showed to the detective the Nordic wolfsbane, a strange flower, that was present in the room. It was revealed that the flower had negative effect, which was used to assassinate a prince in the past.
Later, Heo Joon Jae checked on Shim Chung. But she fought with him and did not want him to hear her thoughts. He cowed down to her and said he would leave her alone and would try not to listen to her thoughts. Therefore, the next morning, he used Tae Ho’s headphones with a loud music playing so he won’t hear her thoughts.
Back to Ma Dae Young and Kang Seo Hee, she convinced him that he had a rage problem. That was why he forgot some things when he told her that he could not remember who he was and what he did in the past. She also told him that he was supposed to get revenge. And she would tell him who it would be.
As for the detective, he could not get the warrant he wanted. It was because the evidence they took was not taken in a lawful way. Still, he also let Heo Joon Jae’s team to bug the house and listen on in what happened there.
Jo Nam Doo, on the other hand, consulted someone at the aquarium center to ask how much it would pay for a mermaid. It was revealed that he overheard Heo Joon Jae and Shim Chung that she is actually a mermaid. He also checked out the pearls he found in her room.
Shim Chung thought of saying goodbye to her friends, little Yoo Na and the homeless woman. She planned on leaving Heo Joon Jae.
Later, Heo Joon Jae met Cha Si Ah. He told her not to wait for him. Even if Shim Chung was going to leave him, he would surely go after her. Then, he met his stepbrother and confronted him. He warned his stepbrother to stop his mother from doing anything more to his father.
Heo Joon Jae also talked to Shim Chung after not letting him hear her thoughts. But it turned out that she did not want to let him die because of her.
Fast forward, Heo Joon Jae’s father was given again the pills but he didn’t take them. But unknown to him, the water in the glass was not simply water. He then felt his chest pain and tried to call Heo Joon Jae, but in vain.
Heo Joon Jae took the recorded voice message and was on his way out, leaving Shim Chung with Jo Nam Doo. The latter seemed to have something in his mind.
It was too late when Heo Joon Jae arrived at his father’s home. He was already dead.
