In the final episode of Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth (a.k.a. Hwarang: The Beginning), viewers will see the final showdown between Sun Woo (Park Seo Joon) and King Jinheung (Park Hyung Sik). More twists will spice up the finale episode.
In episode 20 promo, King Jinheung is seen on his knees. He is demanding his mother why she did it. However, it remains to be seen what it was that devastated him so much. The Queen Regent cries as she put a hand on his head. With this, a voice in the background says that they need to change the owner of Silla. It is presumably Sun Woo’s.
Dog-Bird is then seen with Master Young Shil and his father. He says that he is going to do it himself with Hwarang. Afterward, the Hwarang warriors bow down to the King of Silla. King Jinheung says that the warriors are going to be reborn with new strength.
Princess Sook Myung is then seen in the promo, asking “Will you really take over the Hwarang House?” She asks this of her brother. Then he answered that “A powerless king can accomplish nothing.” As it is, he has only one fall back now — the Hwarang warriors. If no one would support him, he has no one else.
Meanwhile, Sun Woo challenges the King. He asks, “Do you not have the confidence to be chosen?” Then it seems that the king is in a coronation day. With this, Master Young Shil’s voice is heard in the background. He says, “Do you truly believe that the throne belongs to you?”
After this, Sun Woo in his Hwarang uniform together with the others meet the king with his subjects. Then he is seen walking toward the throne with his fellow Hwarang warriors behind him. Also, the Queen Regent’s face seems to show fear.
Then Sun Woo questions the King,”Is this the end?” He then adds, “We have different paths to take.”
Although the promo seems to show that Sun Woo is bent on taking the throne from King Jinheung, he might just let the king take the throne. Even though he is the rightful heir to the throne, he would just choose to simply serve and support the king. After all, he would understand the king’s heart more than anyone else.
Also, even though with Ah Ro (Go Ara) being a Wonhwa, there is still a way for her and Sun Woo to be happy together in the end. Together, they might just be contented in supporting the King of Silla. As for the other characters like Soo Ho (Choi Min Ho), Ban Ryu (Do Ji Han) and others, they would also do the same.
