Doctor Strange Review: Top 5 Things that Amaze Viewers

With the undoubtedly box office hit Doctor Strange in its weekend opening, viewers were treated to stunning sequence of actions. It seemed that even before the movie finished, fans have already clamored for more of Dr. Stephen Strange. (I, for one, was looking forward to watch this movie and its sequel if there is any.)

You might ask why. Here are the top 5 things that amaze the viewers. (Some spoilers are hinted herein as well.)

My ticket — watched it at Dacia Cinema in Piatra Neamt, Romania

1. The visual effects are plainly awesome! While Marvel movies are known for great visual effects, the ones used for Doctor Strange were just unique and never seen before. Perhaps it is because the movie is about mysticism and magic? (Definitely not only because it was 3D.)

It’s 3D, of course!

2. The epic cape! You have to see the movie so you would know how the cape amazed the moviegoers. Doctor Strange was clearly chosen by the cape.

3. Great performance by the cast members. Should I still elaborate more? Okay. Here it is.

Sherlock fame Benedict Cumberbatch may sound off at first to be chosen to play the title role. But it seems that there is no role in the world that he couldn’t pull off. Plus, he has the support of amazing actors like Chiwetel Ejiofor (Karl Mordo), Rachel McAdams (Christine Palmer), Tilda Swinton (The Ancient One), Mads Mikkelsen (Kaecilius), Scott Adkins (Kaecilius’ follower) and Benedict Wong (Wong).

Ejiofor and Wong basically fed Cumberbatch’s Strange information about the mystic world and Dormmamu. On the other hand, Adkins and Mikkelsen try their best to kill Strange. Adkins (Special Forces) demonstrated his never-fading martial arts skills in the fight sequences with Strange. Too bad he was a baddie in the movie.

Lastly, Swinton (The White Witch of The Chronicles of Narnia) may have taken the role from a supposedly male Asian Ancient One, her acting prowess crushed the “whitewashing” issue and doubts of the diehard fans of the comic book.

4. Dormmamu easily gave in to Doctor Strange! The Supreme Sorcerer managed to make a deal with the immortal entity by using a time loop. I was like “That was it?” but “It was cool!” at the same time.

5. Thor’s appearance after the credits rolled. This hints that Doctor Strange will appear in Thor: Ragnarok. By the way, Thor’s expression when he saw the bottomless mug of beer was priceless!

For those who haven’t seen it, perhaps you should make up your mind while Doctor Strange is still showing in theaters nearest you. In the meantime, watch the trailer below.
